Radiohead - Staircase

It's really about time "Staircase" got an official release. Ever since it premiered on the From the Basement sessions early this summer, many wondered if there'd ever be a studio version of this spectacular piece, and whether it would live up to the original. Turns out Radiohead didn't think they could do a better job either.

Factory Floor - Two Different Ways

The video explains exactly what everyone feels when hearing this song. Watch out for these guys!

Chairlift - Sidewalk Safari

Chairlift punches out retaliatory pop madness and slithery hooks on "Sidewalk Safari".

Atlas Sound - Angel Is Broken

As the cover for Parallax suggests, Atlas Sound has gone rock n' roll. The sonic gap that was once between Deerhunter and Atlas Sound has shrunk to ambient nuances, subtleties in texture. Bradford Cox assembles the colors and instrumentation of a band, but the dry mix shrouds Parallax in eerie solitude.

Holy Ghost! - I Wanted To Tell Her (Ministry cover)

Accurate and faithful to the original, Holy Ghost!'s cover of "I Wanted To Tell Her" is arguably the more refined piece, adjusted for the listener's of today. LCD Soundsystem fans will feel right at home.

The original...

Tennis - Tell Her No (The Zombies cover)

What do you get when you cross zombies with tennis? Not a very lively game probably. On an unrelated note, Tennis just put out a faithful cover of The Zombies' song "Tell Her No". Indeed, say no to zombie tennis.

Twin Sister - Stop

Twin Sister have stepped up their game since their last EP. From the very appropriately titled debut LP, In Heaven, "Stop" could just be called indie-pop, but its intricate and shifting song structure breathes a whole lot of character into the track. The entire album is really worth checking out.

Also hear the excellent "Kimmi in a Rice Field"...

Toro Y Moi - I Can Get Love

From the recently released Freaking Out EP, "I Can Get Love" is a poolside hybrid of Toro Y Moi's past ventures, simmering with sleek musicianship and meticulous production.

Neon Indian - Hex Girlfriend

Neon Indian's (very synthy) synth-pop sounds develops beautifully in the dense and immersive Era Extraña, his latest LP, which you can hear in its entirety for a limited time here. "Hex Girlfriend", spewing youth and good times, is by far the catchiest thing this guy has made.

Beirut - Santa Fe

A day in the life of an Italian beach bum. Be sure to check out Beirut's latest and most intimate LP, The Rip Tide.

Oberhofer - Gotta Go

Young and energized as ever, Oberhofer are set to release their first full-length next year. Expect adolescent ranting and a lot of familiar OoOOoOoOo's as evident by the recent single "Gotta Go".

And a favorite from last year...

Synth maestro Neon Indian's latest shiner "Polish Girl" makes it way through the piercing lights of the nightlife.

Thundercat - For Love I Come

This spacey tune almost sounds like an intoxicated Wayne Coyne had just come of out a pool of syrupy soul... or maybe not. Be sure to wait for the orgasmic fusion jam at the end, Snarf!

Among the tracks currently available from the album, "Echoes" stands out being true to the aged spirit of High Times

Yes this is old news now, but the entire album seriously cannot get enough praise.

Radiohead - The Butcher

From the King of Limbs sessions, though it sounds like it could belong to the Hail to the Thief era. Subtle and tense nevertheless.

Grimes - Vanessa

Montreal's own Grimes sinks herself in the indie-pop starlight (star-dark rather) and pulls off an impressively cohesive and layered track.

Julian Lynch - Back

On his way to releasing his new album Terra, Julian Lynch continues with familiar earthy craft. Album closer "Back" struggles and shines through, baked with wholesome acoustic goodness.

mp3: Julian Lynch - Back

Speaking of baked, Lynch seems to be high on the title track...

Niva - The Boy From The Sun

Waiting for summer takes its toll.

Dodos - Companions

Delicate, bleak, and softly orchestrated, "Companions" is as touching as it is sincere.

Fleet Foxes - Grown Ocean

It's great to see a band evolve, maintaining what is already a delightful signature sound but also exploring   intricate progressive folk-rock elements. (The mp3 download is one of those that's of a quality too high for the player to handle, just right-click download instead)

Wild Beasts - Albatross

Known for their signature operatic art-pop sound, Wild Beasts return this year with their 3rd album, Smother, out May. "Albatross" is not unfamiliar, as trembling high falsetto soars through feather-light keys and guitars.

Update: here's the video

Twin Shadow - At My Heels (в моих пятках)

Watch for the ridiculous/hilarious commentary. Listen for the beautifully love-struck song. Bangladeshi Bowie indeed...

Robin Pecknold - I'm Losing Myself/Derwentwater Stones

Fleet Foxes frontman Robin Pecknold hasn't been wasting time. While we wait for Helplessness Blues to come out in May, Robin has put out a few jams. Whet your palette with the self-concsious "I'm Losing Myself" (Feat. Grizzly Bear's Ed Droste) and the adventurous "Derwentwater Stones."

tUnE-yArDs - Bizness

Bright and early.

Here We Go Magic - Hands in the Sky

Here We Go Magic unleash rays of ethereal sorcery in face of clinical imagery in this new track off The January EP. (The track seems to be lossless mp3, so the player doesn't bother loading it and just skips the track. You're better off downloading it.)

Hard Mix - Now Her

Beat n' sample master Hard Mix was kind enough to give away his new LP, Defaults, at the cost of just "liking" a Facebook page. Solid work!

Yeasayer - I Remember

The standout, and definitely most sentimental, track off last year's Odd Blood , "I Remember" is Yeasayer's Valentines Day gift this year. Very Appropriate. The video, however, I wish I could forget.
